On the Norwegian end of the link, the sub-sea cable will follow the Hardangerfjord in western Norway to Simadalen. Here, it will connect to a converter station, which converts the DC electricity in the subsea link to AC, for connection to the Norwegian grid.

Following development and detailed design work it is anticipated that construction will happen between 2019 and 2020. Given the location of the converter station in Norway it is likely that large components for the construction can be brought in by sea.
